Our research is focused on multi tissues organs-on-a-chip (OOC) and more specifically in the metabolic crosstalk within tissues and their relationship with metabolic diseases. Our projects are focused on four key tissues regulating glucose homeostasis, namely, the pancreas, liver, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue. To achieve this objective, it is necessary a combined interdisciplinary approach such as biomaterials and tissue engineering research, biosensing technology.

The Weimar research group (AG Weimar) advances the basic understanding of the chemical gas sensors and their functioning. Our sophisticated investigative technologies, applied under operando sensor operation conditions, warrants technological innovation and development. The commercial success of AppliedSensors GmbH (now AMS), a spin-off company which capitalizes on the strengths of the Weimar working group – analytical chemistry expertise and a deep understanding of the way in which chemical sensors work -, affirms this approach. The annual Block Course Chemical Sensors- Basics, Technology and Applications offers the chance for graduate students to learn the basics about the technology and application of chemical sensors.

The Department of Electronics Technology  is engaged in research and education. The main research topics are the  construction and technological realization of advanced packaging of modules and devices. The program of education consists of the fundamentals of advanced packaging and the development of semiconductors with complex electronic systems. Applications with high requirements on reliability and efficiency can be realized, through the combination of materials, design and different technologies of manufacturing and processing.

Depending on its strong scientific research force and advanced materials preparation and processing, as well the analysis and testing platforms, the School of Materials Science and Engineering has been carrying out in-depth scientific researches  around the frontier of scientific development in  materials field, the major needs in the development of national defense science and technology, and the national key scientific research tasks for many years. It has achieved a large number of pioneering scientific research results, and formed a high-level scientific research team.

Laboratory of Functional Materials is conducting research projects related to the development of electronic and biomedical materials technology. The research interests of the laboratory are gas sensors, fuel cells, electrolysers, gas separation membranes and materials for biomedical applications. We are especially interested in development of cost effective technologies (spin coating, spray pyrolysis, dip coating), which utilize metallo-organic polymers. Thin and thick, dense and porous, functional layers can be fabricated using those technologies. Memebers of the Laboratory of Functional Materials were historically part of the Laboratory for Electroceramic Technologies and Devices, which had no formal authority in the structures of the Gdańsk University of Technology.

Air pollution is a significant health problem worldwide, and it also affects the health of the population in Norwegian cities and towns. The main pollutants in Norwegian cities are nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5).NILU contributes to green community development by offering research, services and advice to public administration and industry.

This research group is mainly a special interest group offering an academic platform for members of all IFI research groups and research partners. Major goal is the in depth discussion of challenges related to analytical systems IFI researchers face in their projects, in order to create synergies and increase research impact and success. As the group’s main focus in on systems research, application areas and mathematical and physical foundations are typically explored in close collaboration with experts from the respective disciplines. Health, biology, energy, climate, and society are domains the group is particularly interested in.

The research group of Computational Intelligence of the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznan is focused on the inteligent systems and inteligent computing with special reference to iinformation imprecision and incompletness. The CI group cooperates with major universites and institutes in Poland, as well as, in Europe, USA, and Asia.
